Job description

We'd like you to join us as a Business Systems Manager, which will be home based with occasional UK travel to sites and offices.

This is a key management role, reporting to the Head of Business Systems, and is responsible for all applications across the organisation, which include on-premise, cloud based, and SaaS products. The Business Systems team compromises of Business System Engineers and Analysts.

In addition to this, the team are supported by a range of third-party providers, and management of those relationships will be a key element of the role.

This role will support the Head of Business Systems to develop and implement ACG's IT strategy, which is aligned to the company's overall strategy. As part of that, you will play a key role in significant projects supporting key areas of the business including Operations and Finance. In addition, you'll need to ensure we get the best out of our current systems, some of which have only recently been implemented, as part of a major technology transformation programme. Building relationships with key stakeholders within the wider IT department and across the organisation will be essential, both to ensure our systems operate in line with the needs of our colleagues, and to provide the platform needed to deliver the organisations vision.

*Note, interviews will be conducted face to face for this role. We have numerous locations across the UK that can be made available to reduce the commute where possible.

What you'll be working:

What you'll be doing:

  • Effectively lead and mentor members of the Business Systems Team.
  • Responsibility for all systems, which will cover areas such as performance, maintenance, availability, upgrades, integration, enhancements, support and licensing.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, at all levels.
  • Build and manage relationships with our key suppliers, ensuring appropriate services are being provided, service contacts are being adhered to and that we are making best use of our managed service offerings.
  • Responsibility for the assessment, development, testing and implementation of new systems, & improvements to existing systems
  • Liaise with all parts of the business to gather requirements and design solutions with stakeholders and end users
  • Ensure that all system improvements meet business requirements and conform to ACG strategies
  • Ensure the business applications meet the Business Continuity requirements
  • Establish policies and quality assurance standards for application deployment, customisation , governance and support.
  • Identify areas for improvement, communicate to senior management & follow through to ensure continual improvement of supported systems
  • Ensure that all system improvements meet business requirements and conform to ACG strategies
  • Establish close working relationships with the wider IT team.
  • Develop a personal profile in the external IT healthcare marketplace, to represent the organisation as forward thinking and innovative in all aspects of technology.
  • Ensure your team are well-trained, well-organised, well-supported and properly supervised and motivated. Responsible for their performance management, training and development.
  • Manage staff appraisals and input into annual salary reviews.
  • Develop, coach and mentor direct reports within your function.
  • Be inclusive, collaborative and ensure a team ethic which promotes openness without judgement.
  • Foster key internal relationships with Management of the Business Systems team, Head of Business Systems, wider IT team, key vendor partnerships, business systems owners and users & the Executive Committee., We have a collaborative and holistic approach to care and work effectively in partnership with our stakeholders, to deliver high quality integrated health and care services. We have over 30 years of specialist knowledge and experience in managing complex conditions including ventilation and respiratory, spinal injury, brain injury, epilepsy, neurological conditions and learning disabilities.

Requirements

  • Excellent track record of implementing and supporting a broad range of systems with an understanding of business risk management.
  • Understanding of the need to deliver systems and services in line with the needs of the users.
  • Articulate communication/presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical/security issues, to business users, direct reports and influence senior management.
  • Able to build effective relationships and network across the group and externally with vendors and sector contacts.
  • Possesses a high degree of technical fluency and able to demonstrate and communicate the practical application of this competence.
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment where there are several competing pressures.
  • Self-motivated, willingness to take on challenges and adaptability to change and manage changing priorities.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent client/customer facing skills, with a good understanding of general business needs and service delivery.
  • Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines or targets and can adapt to differing demands; prioritising tasks, where appropriate.
