Job description

Our client is a global marketing and communications company. They are looking to recruit for a proactive, detail-driven 3rd Line Technology Specialist to help shape, secure, and continually improve a growing cloud and Zero Trust environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy technical team delivering a cloud-first strategy and supporting a modern, security-focused infrastructure, coupled with genuine career development plan.

In this role, you'll take ownership of AWS environments, lead Cloudflare Zero Trust initiatives, provide high-level technical escalation, and work closely with an external managed service provider to deliver exceptional service across the business.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise backup solutions and restoration testing.
  • Build and maintain robust monitoring practices to ensure performance, reliability, and rapid issue detection across critical infrastructure.
  • Mentor, train, and upskill 2nd line colleagues through hands-on sessions, documentation, and runbooks.
  • Take ownership of security across systems while working closely with compliance teams.
  • Provide expert technical consulting for projects and handle advanced BAU escalations.
  • Ensure high availability, cost-effective operations, and continuous improvement across the estate.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, configuration records, and system documentation.
  • Champion cloud best practices, Zero Trust models, and automation.
  • Collaborate with managed service providers and internal teams to prioritise workloads effectively.

AWS & Cloudflare Responsibilities

  • Multi-account governance and secure AWS network design.
  • Logging, observability, and security with CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and Inspector, including CIS-aligned hardening.
  • Resilience and DR planning: multi-AZ architecture, backup and restore strategies, and recovery testing.
  • FinOps practices including tagging, cost optimisation, budgets, RI/Savings Plans, and right-sizing.
  • Infrastructure as Code via Terraform/CloudFormation and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Cloudflare Zero Trust configuration and optimisation: access policies, device posture, DLP, DNS/HTTP filtering, WARP, SSO, VPN replacement, and security/CDN services., * Strong understanding of data centre and cloud technologies: AWS, VMware, servers, storage (Dell), networking (Cisco), and Zero Trust methodologies.

Requirements

  • Experience with: Wintel, VMware, AWS, PowerShell, IIS, Exchange, Windows Server (2025/2022/2019), RedHat and Ubuntu Linux.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A detail-oriented, "no errors" mentality.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and self-management.
  • Ability to manage workloads under pressure and deliver end-to-end project work.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Deep Information Security knowledge and familiarity with best practice, methodologies, tools, and frameworks.

  • AWS certifications or competencies
  • MCITP or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience identifying and delivering performance improvements
  • JamF / Apple device management experience
  • Project management qualification or experience
  • Linux administration
  • Microsoft 365 & Active Directory / Entra management
