Job description

The role is responsible for supporting the Finance Director in providing accurate and timely financial information to assist in strategic decision-making, financial planning, and performance management. This role ensures the financial integrity of the division by preparing monthly management accounts, performing variance analysis, delivering data insights and managing budgets., * Support the month-end process to ensure timely, accurate, and insightful reporting for senior leadership and group stakeholders.

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality monthly management reporting packs, including variance analysis, KPI dashboards, and executive summaries. Deliver insightful financial analysis and commentary to senior finance leadership and business partners.
  • Drive and support core financial processes including budgeting, forecasting, monthly/quarterly performance reporting, and variance analysis
  • Design, track, and analyse key financial and operational metrics; identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and deliver data-driven recommendations
  • Leverage advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Power Pivot, complex modelling, VBA/macros) to streamline reporting processes, reduce manual work, and enhance accuracy
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other business units within the group to align on financial reporting standards, consolidate data, reconcile intercompany transactions, and deliver group-level insights, forecasts, and performance analyses.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Produce weekly sales reports, staff utilisation reports and aged debt reports
  • Analyse variances against budget and forecast and provide explanations
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Ensure that financial data is timely, accurate, and relevant for decision-making
  • Conduct detailed analysis of income and costs, identifying trends and areas of potential savings or efficiency improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Support audits by providing relevant financial information and explanations
  • Collaborate with operational departments to ensure financial objectives are met
  • Provide advice and support to non-financial departments on cost management and financial performance
  • Support the finance team with ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis requests

Requirements

  • Continuously enhance and streamline financial reporting processes by leveraging advanced Excel skills and building dashboards in Power BI
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA/MBA (Finance) with 3-6 years with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (mandatory): Power Query, Power Pivot, dynamic dashboards, financial modelling, and automation (VBA strongly preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a critical thinking mindset
