Job description

We are currently recruiting an exciting opportunity on our IT Infrastructure team. As we continue our IT transformation journey, we are looking to bring in a Network Specialist who will be able to lead the engineering and design of our hybrid infrastructure, championing cyber-secure design principles and drive the business on this journey.

The Role

This role will involve engineering, designing, monitoring, and supporting our hybrid network infrastructure, encompassing both core data centre and cloud environments. The successful individual will specialise in strategic network engineering and LLD ownership, ensuring the infrastructure runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently to support the organisations goals and objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, and deploy end-to-end network solutions, including LANs, WANs, WLAN and SD-WAN Solutions, both on-premise and within cloud infrastructure

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all Azure networking components, leading integration, security, and governance efforts.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration, partnering closely with architecture, cybersecurity, and change delivery teams to ensure network designs and implementations are secure, compliant, and fully aligned with business and technical objectives.

  • Drive network automation initiatives, identifying opportunities and implementing solutions (e.g. Ansible) to streamline provisioning, management, and monitoring.

  • Manage and monitor networks, servers, and systems to ensure optimal performance. This includes troubleshooting network issues and performing regular maintenance and upgrades

  • Lead network security design and configuration to protect the organisation's data and systems, including setting up firewalls, VPNs, policy-based routing, and zero-trust network security principles.

  • Translating High-Level Designs (HLDs) and business requirements into practical conceptual models, while taking full ownership for the creation, documentation, and implementation of detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs)

  • Proactively managing the capacity and performance of the hybrid network infrastructure, with a focus on Data Center fabric scalability, and raising strategic design proposals for continuous improvement in line with business demands.

  • Owning the network infrastructure lifecycle strategy, including vulnerability management, patching governance, and maintenance planning.

  • Providing where necessary out of hours support of the IT systems.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role you will need to have advanced knowledge of network configuration and protocols alongside strong experience designing and managing branch office connectivity using VPNs, MPLS or SD-WAN solutions.

Due to this the role requires:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a network infrastructure engineering role, ideally within Financial Services.

  • Advanced experience with Azure Virtual Network (VNet) design (including subnetting, peering, and NSGs).

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing and managing Core and Top-of-Rack (ToR) switching environments, including resilience technologies like VSX or other MC-LAG protocols.

  • Proven experience implementing network access control (NAC) and zero-trust principles.

  • Working knowledge of configuration management and orchestration tools such as Ansible.

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including company discretionary bonus, excellent pension contributions, an attractive staff share scheme, BUPA health insurance, buying and selling of annual leave and sponsorship of relevant professional qualifications.

The role is based in our central London office, working a minimum of two days a week in the office and three days a week from home.
