Job description

You could be progressing your career in a hands-on Lead Platform Engineer role at a global cryptocurrency market data and trade execution technology company that is experiencing great success and is growing as a result.

As the Lead Platform Engineer you'll design, deploy and manage scalable, secure and resilient cloud infrastructure on Azure, collaborating with development, operations and security teams to define cloud architecture and implement best practices.

You'll have a broad remit of responsibilities, from BAU activities to designing, building and architecting for new projects and initiatives. Initially you'll work on modernising the tech stack from Virtual Machines to Kubernetes, collaborating closely with Backend Software Engineers to build platforms for developers to build on top of. You'll monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify issues and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability, seeking to optimise cloud resources for cost efficiency whilst maintaining performance and security standards.

This is a senior, hands-on role, you'll mentor one other Platform Engineer in London and collaborate on global initiatives with the wider team.

Requirements

  • You have strong experience with cloud infrastructure engineering with a focus on Azure (GCP also considered)
  • You have deep Kubernetes knowledge and experience including Azure AKS, set-up, config and troubleshooting
  • You have experience of designing and managing cloud environments, including compute, storage, networking and security components
  • You have a strong knowledge of Linux and Virtualisation, VMWare
  • You have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • You can code with Python or Golang for automation
  • You have a strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • You have experience of mentoring and providing technical leadership
  • You're collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills
  • You're degree educated in Computer Science or closely related discipline
