About the company
The BioSysteM Cluster of Excellence is an international research network in which scientists from Munich's two universities, the Helmholtz Zentrum München and the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis. Starting January 1, 2026, the cluster will be funded by the DFG as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments, with TUM serving as the administering university. The aim is to learn how to design and control biological systems in a targeted manner. An important aspect of this effort is the accurate organization, harmonization, and exchange of research data that will fuel the application of machine learning approaches. Defining standards and databases for experimental protocols and biosystem designs will be of critical importance for the establishment of the Munich Repository of Standardized Parts and Protocols (MRSPP). To address these needs, we want to establish a AI Core Unit as a central service that ensures the, We offer a full-time position as academic staff with the opportunity to lead a team of data scientists (domain specialists).
