Job description
Role Description: We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Application Engineer for our Central Tech Business Unit in the Business Applications team which is part of the Productivity & Collaboration Track within the IT Services organization part of Central Tech. This role is based out of Amsterdam, Netherlands. The purpose of this role is to enhance and maintain the enterprise applications that support Booking.com's operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the company. Responsibilities
- Business Acumen, Consultancy: Understanding business principles and providing expert advice to solve business challenges.
- Stakeholder Management, Collaboration, Communication: Effectively engaging with all parties involved, working together, and clearly conveying information to achieve shared goals.
- Analysis, Innovation, Problem-Solving: Examining information to identify issues, developing creative solutions, and resolving complex challenges.
- Leadership, Strategic Planning, Change Management, Mentoring: Guiding and inspiring teams, facilitating smooth transitions during organizational changes, and supporting the development of others. Providing excellent support to clients and developing long-term plans to achieve organizational objectives.
- Systems Design: Evaluates architecture solutions, leads technical delivery, describes system implications, designs and defends solutions, possesses knowledge in data storage/security, and improves system health.
- Technical Incident Management: Addresses production issues, improves reliability through root cause analysis, tracks incidents, and is responsible for triage/prioritization and system monitoring.
- Automation and toil reduction: Ensures infrastructure currency, reduces technical debt, optimizes for scaling, ensures cost-efficient operations, reduces human labor with software features, possesses cloud technology knowledge, and works in a DevOps model.
- Production systems best practices: Secures production systems, ensures compliance, reduces single points of failure, reduces impact of live issues with documentation, ensures compliance (SOx, PCI, PII, GDPR), ensures resiliency and uptime, runs backup/restore procedures, and has knowledge of configuration management and data retention.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, * Experience in software development with proficiency in one of the coding languages: Java, SQL, Python, etx
- Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Computer Or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Or A Related Field Or 5 Years Of Progressively Responsible Experience In The Specialty As Equivalent
- At least 5 years of engineering experience, including 3+ years of managing SaaS applications used for productivity and collaboration such as Google Workspaces, Slack, Glean, Blink, JIRA, Confluence or similar applications
- Business Applications Acumen: Strong understanding of Business Applications and a deep knowledge of Business like Booking.com.
- Problem-Solving & Communication: A proactive, results-driven, and analytical mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with technologies like Mulesoft, Gitlab, or AWS, as well as a deep understanding of AI technologies.
