Data Analyst - Athena/QuickSight - Outside IR35 - SC Cleared

We are seeking a Data Analyst to support a major end-user technology upgrade programme within a large public-sector organisation. This initiative involves the rollout of a modern operating system across a significant device estate. The quality and consistency of underlying data is essential for senior decision-making, reporting accuracy, and identifying the operational impact of the rollout.

Data related to deployment progress and associated incidents is currently fragmented across multiple systems, limiting visibility into performance, emerging issues, and opportunities for improvement. This role will play a key part in shaping a new data capability, enabling more data-driven decisions across product and service teams.

Responsibilities

• Build dashboards and analytics views using AWS-native tooling (QuickSight, Athena).
• Correlate data from multiple sources to surface rollout trends, blockers, and actionable insights.
• Produce weekly and ad-hoc analysis reports focused on operational recommendations, not just observations.
• Clean and structure data, resolving inconsistencies and identifying quality gaps.
• Support improvements to data governance and quality controls across the programme.
• Translate operational questions into data requirements, working closely with delivery and product teams.
• Contribute to future forecasting and scenario-modelling using Python, R or similar where appropriate.
• Present findings to stakeholders in clear, accessible formats.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in analysing and interpreting complex, incomplete datasets.
• Hands-on experience with AWS analytics stack: QuickSight for visualisation, Athena for querying distributed data.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and issue investigation.
• Confident communicator, able to engage senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
• Experience in public-sector IT delivery environments beneficial.
• Programming skills (Python/R) advantageous but not
