Job description
We're seeking a Lead Product Designer to own the strategy, evolution, and delivery of our Design System while strengthening the operational foundations that enable our design practice to scale. This role blends strategic vision, hands-on design craft, and team leadership, shaping both the system and the processes that support it.

What you will do:
Strategy & Vision
- Define and evolve the long-term vision for our design system.
- Build clear standards, processes, and governance to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Champion the design system across the organisation, creating alignment and advocacy for its future direction.
Leadership, Mentorship & Team Enablement
- Lead and mentor designers, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for growth.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, regional, and commercial teams to support smooth adoption and best practices.
- Foster a culture rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and operational excellence.
Hands-On Design Craft
- Contribute directly to the evolution of components, tokens, templates, and documentation.
- Uphold high standards for quality, consistency, accessibility, and scalability.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure accurate implementation and shared ownership of the system.
Operational Excellence
- Lead initiatives that improve our Designer Experience and strengthen design workflows.
- Refine tools, streamline processes, and track meaningful metrics to support scale and efficiency.
- Help define how our design organisation operates at its best.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Facilitate workshops, training, and alignment sessions that bring teams together.
- Act as a bridge between design, engineering, and product to tackle systemic challenges.
- Create opportunities for shared understanding, knowledge-sharing, and smooth collaboration.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Mentoring?, Design System Expertise
- Proven experience leading design systems in complex or multi-brand environments.
- Strong understanding of governance, contribution models, and cross-team workflows.
Technical Knowledge
- Expert in Figma, including tokens, theming, libraries, version control, and documentation tools (Storybook, Zeroheight).
- Familiar with design-to-code pipelines and front-end implementation; curious and informed about emerging tools.
Process & Operational Excellence
- Ability to design and scale operational foundations that drive adoption, efficiency, and consistency.
Communication & Facilitation
- Skilled at articulating the value of design systems and bringing stakeholders on the journey.
- Confident facilitator of workshops and alignment sessions.
Leadership & Influence
- Experienced in mentoring and guiding teams, with strong influence across disciplines.
Systems Thinking
- Holistic thinker who can anticipate dependencies, spot opportunities, and solve at the systems level.
