Design Engineer

Elevation Design & Projects are supporting the recruitment of a Design Engineer on behalf of a specialist engineering organisation in South Yorkshire.

This role will play a key part in developing, refining, and delivering engineered solutions across a range of products, components, and customer projects. Working closely with sales, manufacturing, quality and R&D teams, the Design Engineer will ensure all designs meet technical specifications, industry standards, and customer expectations.

The Design Engineer will be responsible for creating, developing, and implementing engineering designs for new products and customer projects. The successful candidate will support the full lifecycle of design activities, from concept and analysis through to prototyping, documentation, installation support and ongoing improvements., * Produce detailed design drawings, specifications, and 3D/2D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

• Carry out engineering analysis to assess materials, design options, and manufacturing processes.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to define project requirements and develop layout drawings for customer approval.
• Conduct design reviews and implement improvements to optimise performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, and product feasibility studies.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards, regulations, and internal procedures.
• Prepare technical documentation including BOMs, manuals, design reports, method statements and risk assessments.
• Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, including troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Manage day-to-day project activities to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
• Carry out site surveys where required and liaise directly with customers to support installation requirements.
• Contribute to R&D activities and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

• HNC or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Design Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering work.
• Flexibility to undertake additional duties in line with evolving business needs.
