Lead Backend Developer

Role: Lead Backend Developer Location: Bristol, UK (Mandatory 2 days onsite per week) Duration: 6 Months Experience: 10-15 Years Rate: £350/day (Inside IR35, slightly negotiable) Key Skills (Mandatory) Strong hands-on experience with Spring Cloud, Cloud Native development, Microservice Design Patterns, APIM, and Security Recent hands-on experience in Java Backend Development Experience with Cloud Native architectures and designing secure microservices About the Team You will work with the Mobile Security team responsible for securing mobile channels across the bank. The team builds mobile security components, provides penetration testing, obfuscation services, and ensures a strong security posture for mobile apps. Responsibilities Build and enhance secure, scalable backend applications Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and containerised solutions Contribute to mobile app security services and backend support Collaborate with engineering teams to maintain security standards

Optimize backend performance to meet stringent non-functional requirements Essential Experience Strong background in building secure enterprise-grade backend systems Expertise with REST APIs, containerization, microservices Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Experience with agile development, CI/CD, and best coding practices Desirable Experience Java development Cryptography experience in Go and/or Java SQL databases Cloud/DevOps pipelines Application security or mobile security understanding
