Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer to join our global Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) team within IT Operations and Laboratory at Boehringer Ingelheim. Based in Ingelheim, Biberach, Dortmund, Vienna or Barcelona, you will play a key role in enabling value creation from Manufacturing Execution System (MES) data and driving impactful project outcomes., * As an expert in MES data platforms, you will lead initiatives to enhance system capabilities and act as a technical consultant.

You will design, build, and maintain data streaming solutions using Apache Kafka to ensure their continuous improvement.

In a validated GMP environment, you will implement changes such as installations, configurations, and updates.

Furthermore, you will monitor platform performance, resolve availability issues, and ensure secure and compliant operations.

You will automate tasks and develop self-service tools to support Kafka environment management.

In addition, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Kafka into the AWS-based Dataland ecosystem.

Requirements

Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific field

Several years of proven work experience in an international IT environment paired with proven track record in project management and stakeholder engagement

Profound knowledge in system engineering and consulting within manufacturing IT

Strong knowledge in Apache Kafka, data streaming, ETL processes, and related programming tools

Experience with Kafka security features (SSL, SASL, ACLs) and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace

Ability to work in a validated GMP environment and follow compliance protocols

Fluent in English in writing and speaking; German is a plus
Benefits & conditions
The remuneration for this position starts at EUR 59.400 gross annual target salary per year (full time). The actual salary package depends on professional experience and qualifications. We will be happy to discuss further details in person.
