Job description
The Server Support Analyst is a member of the Infrastructure Team. They provide specialist enterprise-level implementation, maintenance and support to the Council's IT infrastructure, supporting environments such as Microsoft Hyper-V and VMWare vCentre and using tools such as the Microsoft System Centre suite. The analysts coordinate tasks with appropriate functions around the organisation and suppliers to ensure that systems administration tasks are completed to schedule and in line with ITIL standards, ensuring good practices, excellent documentation and high standards of operational effectiveness are implemented.
Requirements
· Knowledge and experience of deploying, administering and supporting Windows Server across physical and virtual environments.
· Knowledge and some experience of working with at least one Microsoft System Centre suite products: VMM, SCOM, SCECM, SCOR
· Experience of working with either Microsoft Hyper-V or VMWare ESXi hypervisors
· Knowledge and some experience of working with the Microsoft cloud ecosystem and knowledge of ITIL Service Delivery and Change Management processes
· Understanding of customer service, ownership and feedback in the context of systems support, upgrades and change management.
· The ability to prioritise work and deliver results in a pressurised environment, balancing conflicting demands to achieve acceptable outcomes and the ability to produce clear written and verbal communications and to update systems and databases accurately.
· The ability to enhance technical skills through personal development and formal training courses.
· The willingness to work outside of core working hours as required.
This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
