Job description
We now have a great opportunity for a dedicated and proactive IT Helpdesk Technician to join our established IT support team. In this key role, you will provide day-to-day first-line support to users across the firm, helping resolve a wide variety of technical queries. This role is hybrid working, based in Halifax and requires flexibility to travel to our other offices based in Leeds, Manchester, and Cambridge. Key Responsibilities
- Working within a team to maintain and monitor all helpdesk tickets by ensuring solutions, escalations and closing of tickets in a responsive way
- Maintaining IT Stock and making sure the Stock Inventory system is up to date across offices
- Configuring PCs and printers for use, basic repairs and arranging replacements, including new starter equipment, as well as off-boarding leaver equipment
- Exchanging broken hardware for new, as well as upgrading of mobile assets, including data and setting migration
- Contributing to IT project work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Maintain computer systems and act as support if any system goes down
- Day to day maintenance Active Directory / Azure Active Directory estate / Telephony System, as well as daily Spam checks
- Collaborating with the team to strengthen and streamline the knowledge base, documentation, and processes
Requirements
- Proven first-line support experience with good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong general IT knowledge with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
- An understanding of Windows 11, Microsoft 365 administration and Active Directory
- Familiarity with Exchange and IT security best practices
- Experience supporting telephony, video conferencing tools, and using ITSM systems (e.g., Halo)
- Previous experience of working with iOS/Android devices, remote access tools, and peripheral setup (e.g., printers)
- The ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and work independently
- Strong ownership of tasks, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
