Job description

Are you a seasoned IT professional with a strong blend of system administration expertise and a passion for ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of critical engineering applications? ? We are seeking an IT Operations & Application Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the planning, operation, and continuous improvement of our complex application landscape, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You'll bridge the gap between infrastructure and software, contributing to both operational excellence and quality assurance.

  • Application Ownership: Take ownership of the integrity and health of existing and new engineering applications and their associated databases. This includes maintaining versioning, managing codebases across different environments, and ensuring database consistency, systems security and compliance.
  • Software Deployment & Release Management: Support the team by deploying software solutions from external developers to various environments (e.g., test, staging, production).
  • Collaborate effectively in IT projects working closely with internal and external teams to ensure quality, participating in verification as well as implementing new features.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: perform manual software testing to ensure the quality, functionality, and proper integration of new features and bug fixes. While focusing on manual testing, you will identify opportunities and actively contribute to the future vision of automating repetitive testing efforts, particularly utilizing tools like Selenium.
  • Code Review & Understanding: Review source code (JavaScript, C#) to understand modifications, support troubleshooting, and effectively test changes implemented by external development partners.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in IT operations and application support., * Strong knowledge of PLM applications (e.g. Teamcenter or ARAS)
  • Experience with CAD software is an advantage
  • Familiarity with application troubleshooting, coding, and debugging (SQL, JavaScript, C#, JSON) is a plus

Technical Skills

  • Proven experience in Windows Server and SQL Server administration
  • Proficiency in scripting, particularly with PowerShell
  • Experience with Linux server environments is an asset
  • Knowledge of the .NET / C# technology stack is beneficial

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Skilled in resolving complex technical issues across systems and applications

Additional Competencies

  • Comfortable with software deployment processes and managing code repositories in multi-environment setups
  • Understanding of infrastructure concepts and system architectures is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of ITIL frameworks is a plus

Language Skills

  • Good command of English is required
  • Good German skills or willingness to acquire them
