Job description
The Systems Engineer will operate as a project-focused technical SME within the J6 Plans Division (J65), supporting the design, documentation, and planning of system-based IT capabilities across mission enclaves. This position emphasizes forward design thinking, integration alignment, and the creation of detailed engineering documentation to drive scalable, compliant, and mission-ready solutions., * Serve as the lead technical planner for system engineering initiatives, capturing requirements, drafting solution overviews, and developing design documentation packages
- Develop high-level and low-level designs for system architecture, including Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, PKI, virtualization platforms, and endpoint management solutions
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, RMF, and operations teams to ensure planned designs are compliant and supportable
- Contribute to the creation of engineering plans, server baselines, rack elevations, virtual resource allocations, and storage layouts
- Support solution justification through briefing materials, risk analysis, and technical option tradeoffs
- Act as a liaison to vendor or internal engineering staff during solution evaluation and specification
- Develop technical checklists, deployment procedures, and system build documentation for future implementation teams
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's with 6 years in systems engineering, architecture, or project planning
- Experience: 6+ years designing or supporting DoD or enterprise-grade system solutions
- Technical Skills: Strong background in Windows Server environments, AD architecture, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V); Familiarity with Group Policy, DNS/DHCP planning, PKI architectures, and STIG implementation; Skilled in Visio, PowerPoint, and Word for technical design and documentation
- Clearance: Active DoD TS/SCI clearance required
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
- ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to translate mission objectives into structured, well-documented system designs; Strong communication and coordination skills across stakeholder groups; Familiarity with RMF, POA&M dependencies, and enclave-level accreditation considerations; Experience documenting or presenting technical proposals for infrastructure implementation
- CERTIFICATIONS: Required: IAT Level II (e.g. Security+ CE), Microsoft MCSA or equivalent; Preferred: VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified, ITIL v4, or PMP, * Experience supporting planning efforts for tactical or classified system deployments; Familiarity with enclave boundary protection, cross-domain services, and COOP systems; Ability to lead solution working groups and document implementation readiness packages, #GDITRecruiting

This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
