Job description
As Senior Test Architect, you will lead the design and management of test infrastructure for our off-highway products across system, software, and integration levels. Collaborating closely with project teams, you will define test concepts, processes, and tools for implementation and automation, ensuring compliance with relevant standards. In addition, you will oversee our test lab, maintain stable and reliable Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems, and serve as the technical interface between Test and Development teams. Beyond infrastructure, you will drive technical leadership, training, and continuous improvement of our test environment.
Your Tasks
- Lead the overall test concept and architecture across system, software, and integration levels
- Design and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems and associated environments
- Ensure reliable operation of test infrastructure by implementing health checks, calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment management
- Coordinate the build-up and continuous improvement of new test systems
- Develop and maintain test frameworks (e.g., pytest) and drive automation enhancements
- Act as the interface between Test and Development teams, ensuring early involvement for testability and timely delivery of test systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring for test engineers; review test cases and enforce best practices for reusability and quality
- Support debugging activities and serve as the primary contact for testers
- Drive continuous improvement in test methodologies, automation, and CI/CD integration
Requirements
- Technical degree (TU/FH) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- At least 3 years' experience in test system design and lab management for embedded systems
- Practical experience in software and system testing for embedded systems
- Hands-on expertise with HIL systems and automated test environments
- Strong Python skills for test automation; familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN)
- Experience in safety-critical testing (e.g., automotive, aerospace, machinery) is highly desirable
- ISTQB certification is an advantage
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a quality-first mindset and attention to detail
- Reliable, committed team player with an independent working style
- Strong communication skills in English; German proficiency is a plus

We provide an attractive and performance-based salary, which is based on your qualifications and professional experience. This position is subject to the Collective Agreement for Employees in the Metal Trade ("Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Metallgewerbe") and we offer a minimum salary of € 69,900.- gross per year. Actual compensation can be well above this standard.
