Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations Join to apply for the Systems Development Engineer, Managed Operations role at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Job Overview AWS is set to introduce the inaugural European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in utility computing. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high-availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. Responsibilities * Oversee the launch of the ESC in 2025, working closely with global AWS teams. * Influence the evolution of AWS services and technology. * Collaborate with technology leaders, contributing to day-to-day operations. * Ensure improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC. * Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents out of hours. Requirements
in written and spoken English is required. * Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU. * AWS will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the EU. * Employees will participate in an On-Call rota. Basic Qualifications * National of an EU member state. * Proven experience in software development or related field with proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, TypeScript, Python, or Ruby. * Experience in engineering, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems. * Solid understanding of Linux and networking, troubleshooting performance, reliability, or availability. * Experience designing systems for performance, simplicity, scalability, durability, cost, and security. Preferred Qualifications * Lead creation, revision, or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs). * Experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic. * Mentor junior engineers and work cross-organizationally. * Support services in AWS or other cloud systems. * Operate 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications; performance tuning and fleet utilization. * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar).
