Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Senior Software Engineer/Python Automation Engineer Location: Remote UK or Europe Type: Permanent Role: Senior Software Engineer/Python Automation Engineer We are hiring for a fast growing payments business that is scaling quickly and has a large number of manual operational processes that need to be simplified, automated, and owned end to end. The role is to transfer the business to fuel growth across the company. The role We are looking for a hands on automation engineer who can independently identify operational problems and solve them using Python, scripting, and pragmatic automation. You will work largely with the CTO and COO. You will be expected to spot inefficiencies, design solutions, build them, deploy them, and own the outcome. This is a doer role, not a consultancy or RPA position. What you will do * Identify manual and repetitive operational processes across the business * Design and build automation using Python and scripting * Integrate systems using APIs and

lightweight tooling * Replace manual workflows with reliable automated solutions * Own what you build including maintenance and improvement * Work closely with technical and non technical stakeholders to understand problems * Move quickly and pragmatically rather than over engineering solutions What we are looking for * Strong hands on experience with Python * Proven experience building automation and scripts in real environments * Strong knowledge of traditional automation frameworks (Firebase, Apache & JMeter) * Comfortable working independently and owning problems end to end * Cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) * Experience working in startups or lean teams where you had to figure things out * Practical mindset focused on outcomes rather than theory * Able to design, build, and deliver solutions without heavy supervision Nice to have * Experience integrating APIs and cloud based services * Exposure to automation frameworks or workflow tools * Familiarity with LLMs or tools such as LangChain * Experience building internal tools or operational platforms What this role is not * Not an RPA role * Not Blue Prism or UiPath * Not an AI research role * Not a consultancy or advisory position * Not a people management role Why apply * High impact role with real ownership * Ability to shape how the business operates day to day * Work on real problems that matter immediately * Remote first and flexible working If you would like to learn more please contact Jake at Breakthrough Talent.
