Job description

As a Cloud Platform Engineer at Xebia, you will join our dynamic Engineering team to lead critical application migrations to cloud infrastructure for our clients. This role is perfect for a technical expert who combines deep platform engineering knowledge with hands-on migration experience, thriving in environments where adaptability and technical excellence are essential., * Architect and execute application migrations to GCP - containerising and deploying to the GCP cloud (Kubernetes, VMs).

  • Lead migration initiatives from on-premises systems to modern cloud infrastructure, ensuring minimal service disruption.

  • Architect and execute live update strategies, managing planned downtimes with minimal business impact.

  • Manage multi-platform environments spanning Linux, Unix, and Windows systems.

  • Implement automated deployment pipelines for continuous delivery.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful migrations.

Requirements

Basics:

  • +5 years of experience in platform engineering or cloud infrastructure (GCP).

  • Strong expertise in application containerisation (Docker, container security, optimisation).

  • Proficiency in Kubernetes orchestration and Helm package management.

  • Proven track record of successful application migration projects.

  • Experience with database administration and migration (Oracle, PostgreSQL).

  • Proficiency in Python, C, and Java programming languages.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows environments.

  • Demonstrated expertise with web servers (Tomcat, Apache).

  • Strong background in API integration and development (REST, SOAP).

  • Experience with database connectors and optimisation techniques.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.

  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.

Recommended:

  • Deep understanding of authentication systems (SSO, LDAP) implementation.

  • Experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.

  • Background in zero-downtime deployment strategies.

  • Familiarity with cloud cost optimisation.

  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements.
