Job description
As a Data Platform Engineer, you'll work together with an enthusiastic team on the foundation of our data environment. You'll make sure that data and software engineers from different countries within Ahold Delhaize can work with data smoothly and securely. Your responsibilities include:
- Further developing our data platform, for example by building CI/CD pipelines and optimizing data processing.
- Building new integrations with sources such as Kafka, Delta, Event Hub, and Files.
- Designing scalable solutions and supporting users with questions or issues.
- Enabling users to onboard their data and perform their operational tasks independently via our self-service platform.
- Improving our development processes together with the team and ensuring stable releases.
- Translating stakeholder requirements into smart, fitting solutions for our platform., * Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or OpenTofu.
- Build modular, version-controlled infrastructure components that are easy to maintain and reuse.
- Deploy workloads on self-managed Kubernetes clusters using helm charts or manifests.
- Containerize and deploy applications with Docker and Kubernetes, leveraging GitOps practices with ArgoCD or Flux.
- Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes for both infrastructure and applications.
- Apply security best practices, including IAM, secrets management, and RBAC.
- Set up monitoring and observability using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Contribute to improving system performance and scalability through data-driven insights and metrics.

Requirements
- You have experience writing scalable Python code, following OOP and SOLID principles.
- You are familiar with data processing and streaming.
- You understand event-driven or microservices architectures.
- You have experience managing and supporting infrastructure in Azure (or any other public cloud), focusing on availability, scalability, and reliability.
