Job description

  • Support clients in maximising the value of their data by designing, developing, and optimising business intelligence reports and dashboards, delivering actionable insights across digital projects and corporate systems, and supporting engineering teams on site.
  • Report to the Contract Supervisor and train and mentor leakage staff to ensure best-practice techniques are applied, contributing to leakage reduction targets across the West Wales region.
  • The role is split between office and site work, requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, overtime, travel between locations, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Junior Data Analyst responsibilities:

  • Develop, publish, and schedule Power BI reports in line with business requirements.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and outliers.
  • Extract and mine data from investigation, reporting, metrics, and trending software applications.
  • Inspect, cleanse, transform, and analyse raw data to generate insights, support conclusions, and enable effective decision-making.
  • Design and build scalable data models, delivering advanced analytical capabilities through clear, user-friendly data visualisations that provide measurable business value.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver relevant insights based on defined business needs.
  • Work independently and effectively manage unstructured and evolving tasks.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical capability, high attention to detail, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Support underperforming staff to improve performance and achieve agreed targets.
  • Attend client meetings as required to support operational and analytical delivery.
  • Trial new equipment and produce detailed evaluation and performance reports.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications, GIS, and industry-specific systems.
  • Proven experience delivering training and supporting operational teams.
  • Ability to interpret water network schematics, with strong knowledge of network hydraulics, leakage detection, and performance monitoring within the clean water industry.
  • Excellent technical understanding of leakage delivery processes, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new methods.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage workloads, deadlines, and competing priorities under pressure.
  • A flexible, proactive team player with a positive "can-do" attitude.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake manual handling, work outdoors in all weather conditions (including occasional night work), and work in confined spaces or on highways.
  • Acceptance of mandatory drug and alcohol testing and completion of a DBS check.
