Job description
Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support and engineering expertise for incident, problem, and change management across production and non-production environments, including out-of-hours escalation as required. . Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server platforms (AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, IIS, clustering) in large-scale virtualised environments. . Conduct root cause analysis and resolution of complex platform issues. . Maintain and enhance automation and deployment workflows using Ansible, CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GoCD), and platform-native automation tooling. . Support Citrix and virtualised platforms such as VMware vSphere and vRealize Automation (vRA). . Support Windows-based and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Oracle v8+9) systems, including patching and configuration management. . Monitor, maintain, and optimise system health, capacity, and performance using SCOM, Tripwire, and other enterprise monitoring and logging solutions. . Collaborate with engineering functions to deliver reliable and secure services. . Ensure systems are maintained in line with security, compliance, and accreditation requirements, supporting audits and vulnerability remediation activities. . Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. . Share knowledge and provide mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
Experience in 2nd/3rd line engineering within secure or Defence environments. . Strong experience in Windows Server administration within enterprise environments. . Proficiency in Citrix and VMWare vSphere and vRealize Automation (vRA). . Experience administering Active Directory environments, including Group Policy, trusts, and delegated administration. . Experience with MECM (SCCM) or equivalent tooling for Windows patching and lifecycle management. . Working knowledge of Linux systems (RHEL/Oracle). . Skilled with monitoring tools such as SCOM. . Knowledge of Git, Nexus, and CI/CD pipeline tools. . Knowledge of Jumpboxes, AutoFS, and log rotation. . Ability to communicate effectively with service owners, architects, and security stakeholders during incident and change activities.
Desirable Skills:
. Experience with Galaxy, Foreman/Katello, or GoCD (or alternatives). . Familiarity with Trend, Nessus, or other security scanning tools. . Knowledge of firewall administration. . Knowledge of Ansible for automation or similar tools. . Knowledge of enterprise backup, restore and disaster recovery solutions. . Awareness of trust relationships and secure enterprise architectures.
