Job description

We have a rare but exciting opportunity for someone with a junior level experience within IT and Information Security to come and join us to focus on our Operational Information Security. This is a great opportunity for someone who is willing to learn and develop their IT Security Skills within an experienced and supportive team.

This role involves triaging information security incidents, requests, events and alerts and then escalating to the necessary technical resource if they cannot be resolved at point of triage. You will also be responsible for Governance Risk and Compliance within Operational Information Security.

The role is primarily working from home, however you may be asked to attend our Cardiff or Newport office when required.

What does the role of Information Security Analyst look like day to day?

  • Triage Information Security incidents and requests with escalation to relevant technical resource
  • Review events and alerting from data loss prevention platforms
  • Create and update process documentation
  • Create and collate audit evidence
  • Follow process to undertake daily checks
  • Review quarantined email for release
  • Undertake Phishing Simulations for the Organisation
  • Manage End User Compute Authorised Applications
  • Remediate Vulnerabilities in End User Compute Estate

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge:

  • A basic understanding of Information Technology with a working knowledge of Windows, Linux and networking.
  • The ability to understand and develop scripts using automation tools, specifically PowerShell
  • An understanding of ITIL processes, specifically incident management and request fulfilment
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications; specifically being proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio as you create Process Documentation

  • A keen independent learner with a passion for technology and information security
  • Methodical and organised - you will have multiple actions open at any one time and you will need to prioritise based on criticality, supported by mentors and the wider team.
  • Flexible and adaptable as you will be using new systems and required to learn new interfaces, read documentation, and undertake training courses to familiarise yourself with the tooling to extract the greatest business benefit.
  • Able to clearly communicate in spoken and written word.
