Job description

As a BI Visualisation Developer, you will join our Data Team within the BI division to create and maintain reporting solutions that help deliver actionable insights and support Thames Water's strategic goals. Your expertise in Power BI and the Azure data stack will be key to driving continuous improvement across the organisation.

You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to gather requirements, develop and test BI solutions, and support end users through documentation and training.

What you'll be doing as a BI Visualisation Developer

  • Collaborate and Create: Work with stakeholders across all levels to build effective Power BI solutions that meet business requirements and bring the product owner's vision to life.
  • Maintain Excellence: Maintain and enhance a range of reporting artefacts, ensuring performance and accuracy. Act as administrator across all Power BI workspaces.
  • Resolve and Support: Act as the administrator for Power BI capacities at Thames Water, including Monitoring Power BI capacities, managing incidents across the tenant, and providing support to resolve any reporting issues.
  • Meet and Exceed: Plan and lead the delivery of reporting projects within the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), ensuring requirements are fully understood and met.
  • Communicate Effectively: Translate technical concepts for non-technical users and ensure delivery expectations are aligned across all teams.
  • Promote Adoption: Prepare training documentation and lead sessions to drive engagement and usage of BI tools, helping business users adopt data-driven practices.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing Power BI solutions that drive business adoption and prompt actionable insights.
  • Experience working in Agile environments with a focus on delivering continuous improvements.
  • A strong background in stakeholder engagement, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse, and document data requirements, identifying gaps and proposing practical solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, balancing BAU support with the delivery of new reporting solutions.
  • Experience administering Power BI capacities and managing incident resolution within a Power BI tenant.

Essential Technical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency working within the Azure stack, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks, and SQL.
  • Expertise in designing intuitive and visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Comfortable using DevOps tools to manage and deploy tasks in an Agile setting.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with enterprise-scale data platforms and data governance practices.
