Job description
As a Backend Staff Engineer you will take a lead role in architecting, developing and scaling the core platform with a focus on backend engineering with Java (there are also some services in Python and Golang) and rearchitecting the PostgreSQL database. As the most senior engineer you'll take project ownership, providing hands-on technical leadership to a small team to drive improvements in a collaborative team environment with high engineering standards and multiple releases per day.
You will also collaborate with the Platform, Support and DevEx teams on the wider technical strategy, reporting to the Director of Engineering in an influential role.
Requirements
- You're a hands-on technical leader with a focus on backend Java engineering
- You have a strong knowledge of databases and PostgreSQL knowledge
- You're delivery focussed
- You're happy to mentor and develop others whilst leading projects and remaining hands-on with architecture and development
- You have experience with AWS
- You're familiar with Python, Golang, Kafka, Kubernetes
- You're collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills
