Job description
Lead the planning, creation and iteration of user-centred content across IBM public sector and healthcare projects

Work closely with user researchers to interpret findings, translate insights into content solutions and inform wider strategy and delivery

Develop content journeys, information structures and task-focused content that help users complete actions efficiently

Use prototyping techniques to show content in context and demonstrate how content supports the overall user experience

Collaborate with designers, developers, architects and consultants to ensure content aligns with GDS standards, accessibility requirements and IBM delivery goals
-
Communicate content decisions clearly to stakeholders across IBM and client organisations, using evidence and user insights to explain recommendations
-
Support and mentor junior content designers, helping build capability and promote a culture of quality, collaboration and continuous improvement
-
Contribute to IBM's growing content design community through knowledge sharing, coaching and best practice development
Requirements
To stand out, experience with GDS content and accessibility standards, user research methods, prototyping tools and UX writing principles will be advantageous. Above all, a passion for creating clear, purposeful content and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.
Required technical and professional expertise

Strong experience in content design for complex services, with excellent writing, structuring and editing skills

Solid knowledge of GDS content standards, accessibility requirements and principles

Ability to analyse user research and data to make evidence-based content decisions

Clear and confident communicator, able to influence stakeholders at all levels

Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with experience leading content work across projects

Ability to work effectively in Agile environments, delivering iteratively and adapting quickly
-
Comfortable learning through experimentation and using feedback to improve content
-
Skilled in content prototyping using a variety of techniques to show content in context
-
Ability to select the right content formats for different audiences and demonstrate improvements
-
Confident explaining the value of prototyping and iterative content design to teams and stakeholders

Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro or Figma to plan and manage content work

A portfolio of work that clearly demonstrates content design skills, approach, reasoning and impact

Certifications in content design, UX writing, UX design, accessibility, or Agile delivery

Experience using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD or similar for content prototyping

Training or certification in accessibility (for example, WCAG, CPACC, WAS)
-
Knowledge of DDaT frameworks and GDS Service Standard

Familiarity with usability testing tools such as UserTesting, Lookback or Optimal Workshop
