Job description

Senior Design Engineer - Hybrid - some travel to our Canning Town office when required- E16We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our expanding Rail Systems Engineering team. You will be working in a part of Telent that is dedicated to maintaining the UK wide rail network. Our customers include Transport for London, Network Rail and a host of Train Operating Companies. Reporting to the Lead Design Engineer the senior design engineer will be responsible for delivering project upgrade works across Transport for London and Network rail infrastructure., Acting as the Senior Design Engineer for customer's projects, you will be responsible for undertaking all technical aspects of projects. This will include managing the production of design packages for minor and major works for new and existing system upgrades, ensuring all works are conducted to the correct standard, working with project management teams to scope for new works and production of quotations.

Key DeliverablesManagement of technical interface to client discipline engineer.Manage and produce designsPerform reviews to verify designs are compliant to contract technical requirements.Ensure designs are risk assessed in accordance with CDM obligations.Ensure designs are fully integrated with other disciplines.Manage and produce test documentation to validate the implemented designs.Provide technical support to implementation teams.Produce as-built documentation and associated test results.Report against programme to relevant Project Manager.Drive efficiencies in repeated work scopes through design re-use.Implement robust processes that aim to eliminate telent incurred re-work costs in all delivery phases.Ensure designers are efficiently utilised.Produce Resource plans for customers worksInterface with internal and external engineering teams to ensure all works are planned and completed on timeEffective communicator (both written and verbal)Support the evolution of technical support solutions across customer estates, integrating emerging technologies to enhance service deliveryBuild and support reference systems through FAT and on-site implementation

Requirements

Strong background in System design, integration and testing for the following technologies.PA/PAVA Design experience - Public Address, Voice Alarm and Induction LoopsStation Management SystemsSecurity CCTV (Analogue and IP)Customer Information Systems and DisplaysPassenger Help PointsData NetworksOPO/TtT CCTV SystemProven rail industry experience and leadership in engineering delivery

QualificationsDegree or HNC in Engineering (preferred)Industry recognition such as Chartered Engineer status or MIET membership (preferred)IRSE LicenseIndustry recognition chartered, MIET etc
