DevOps Engineer - SC Cleared - Public Sector

A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to provide operational support across its AWS cloud platform. The role is primarily incident-driven and focuses on AWS load balancer operations, cloud monitoring, security configuration, and virtual machine management.

You will work closely with Application Support teams and Service Owners to ensure platform availability, security, and stability within a live production environment., * Operate and support AWS Application and Network Load Balancers (2 ALBs, 2 NLBs), responding to incidents raised by the Application Support team

• Maintain platform monitoring through minor configuration updates in OpsView, including alert thresholds and metrics for load balancer availability, VM/OS availability, CPU, memory, and disk utilisation
• Implement minor cloud security configuration changes across AWS, including IAM (RBAC), VPCs, Subnets, Load Balancers, and VM configuration, OS, and disks
• Provide cloud platform incident management across AWS availability, networking, load balancers, and virtual machines
• Manage VM start-up and shutdown activities, scheduled or ad-hoc, based on incidents or Service Owner requests (up to four occurrences per month)
• Perform HashiCorp Vault key management for SEGW services
• Manage AWS EFS and administer local user accounts on AWS-hosted SEGW VMs for suppliers and third-party support users
• Maintain operational runbook documentation for AWS platform components
• Work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently

• Strong commercial experience as a DevOps Engineer in AWS environments
• Hands-on experience managing Application and Network Load Balancers
• Solid understanding of AWS IAM, VPC networking, and cloud security controls
• Experience supporting VM-based workloads (Linux OS)
• Monitoring and alerting experience using OpsView or similar tools
• Proven experience in incident management and operational support
• Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault
• Experience managing AWS EFS
• Strong documentation and stakeholder management skills
• Valid SC clearance is an essential requirement for this role
