Job description

ASenior Software Engineerat ARCOS is a technical leader and mentor within our agile development team, responsible for collaborating with the team and designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions while driving innovation and best practices. The ideal candidate will deeply understand software architecture, prioritize quality, and be committed to enhancing our software's security, scalability, reliability performance, and testability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building scalable systems, coupled with a passion for mentoring others and solving complex technical challenges.

This role requires someone who can think strategically, lead by example, and collaborate across teams to deliver impactful results.

This role is a hybrid role: twice a week in our office in Guadalajara. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design and development of software that aligns with the needs of ARCOS's customers and strategic goals. Advocate, evangelize, and set standards for code quality and best engineering practices (e.g., clean code, design patterns, code reviews, and unit testing). Tackle complex technical challenges and provide solutions that consider both immediate and long-term implications.

  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with team members across different departments, contributing to collective knowledge and ensuring project success. Mentor engineers, helping them grow their technical and professional skills.

  • Execution & Delivery: Operate within an Agile Scrum framework, actively participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Take full ownership of assigned tasks and projects, ensuring timely delivery with a commitment to quality. Proactively identify technical challenges and work with the team to devise effective solutions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas of improvement in the development process and advocate for changes to enhance team efficiency and product quality. Stay updated with the latest technological trends and innovations and lead the exploration and adoption of new technologies when appropriate. Collaborate with technical and non-technical team members, providing technical guidance to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Production Support: Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of issues impacting production systems, which may be outside regular work hours when needed as per criticality.

  • Communication: Collaborate with the product team, architecture, UI/UX engineers, and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals. Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

  • Media Chief engineer

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computerscience/informationtechnology or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 5+yearsofexperienceor equivalentproficiencyinfull-stack enterprise software development (UI, backend, API, database).

  • Strong technical foundation in software engineering design principles and architectural patterns. Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust and scalable systems.

  • Proven capability to tackle challenging technical issues and the leadership skills to guide and mentor a team through solution development.

  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, ability to explain complex technical concepts to peers and junior engineers.

  • Extensive experience in Agile development, continuous integration, and delivery.

  • Knowledge in Cloud Environments (AWS or Azure).
