Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Analytics Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. This role is central to designing, building, and optimising data pipelines, models, and semantic layers that empower the business with timely, trusted, and actionable insights. You will be a technical expert in the Microsoft Azure analytics stack and a key contributor to our enterprise data platform., Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
- Design, build, and support data ingestion and export pipelines across the Azure data platform to enable reliable data movement into and out of the data lake
- Develop and enhance ETL/ELT processes using tools such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Fabric
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure performance, reliability, and availability
Data Modelling & Transformations
- Design and develop scalable data models within the gold layer of the data lake to support reporting, self-service BI, and advanced analytics
- Apply industry-standard data modelling practices to promote consistency, reusability, and maintainability
Semantic Layer & Analytics Enablement
- Build and maintain semantic models using Power BI (Tabular)
- Work closely with business analysts to deliver governed, high-quality, and performant analytical datasets
Advanced Data Analysis
- Perform complex data analysis to support business decision-making and strategic initiatives
- Develop prototypes, proofs of concept, and exploratory analyses to validate business ideas and hypotheses
Data Governance & Quality
- Support the implementation of data governance frameworks in line with organisational and regulatory requirements
- Maintain documentation, metadata, and data lineage for pipelines and datasets
- Assist with data quality monitoring, profiling, and improvement activities
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including BI developers, data analysts, and subject matter experts, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
- Contribute to data engineering standards, best practices, and automation initiatives
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement across the data platform
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, * Apply strong SQL skills to support data manipulation, optimisation, and modelling activities
- Use Python to support data processing, automation, and scripting tasks
- Apply data modelling techniques across logical, physical, and semantic layers
Technical Expertise (Microsoft Azure Stack)
- Work with Azure Data Factory to orchestrate pipelines, develop mapping data flows, and manage integration runtimes
- Use Azure Key Vault to support secure management of secrets and credentials
- Develop and query analytical solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics, including serverless SQL and dedicated pools
- Use Azure DevOps to support source control, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
- Leverage Azure Notebooks for prototyping, data exploration, and engineering tasks
- Develop and optimise relational database solutions using SQL Server, including stored procedures and performance tuning
- Build and maintain tabular semantic models using DAX
- Develop and optimise datasets and reports using Power BI
- Use Excel to support advanced analysis, data exploration, and stakeholder engagement
Preferred Experience
- Leading role architecting and developing lakehouse architectures and technologies such as Delta Lake
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and concepts
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and practices for data engineering workloads
- Extensive experience working in analytics, business intelligence, or data science environments, * Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with a proactive approach to improvement and innovation
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail, quality, and reliability
