Lead Engineer - Java & Spring Boot (Winchester, Hampshire)

Architect & deliver robust, scalable back-end services using Java 21+ and Spring Boot (micro-services, APIs, event-driven pipelines).

Enable clients to run mission-critical workloads on AWS/Azure with high availability.

Lead & inspire a multidisciplinary engineering team (3-7 members). Mentor junior engineers, run regular code-reviews, pair-programming sessions and technical workshops.

Raise the overall technical bar and foster a culture of knowledge-sharing.

Drive best practices around CI/CD, automated testing, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and observability.

Reduce time-to-market and improve reliability for customers.

Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, security and operations teams to translate business goals into technical road-maps.

Deliver end-to-end solutions that meet client expectations and compliance standards.

Champion professional growth - organise internal training, sponsor external certifications (AWS, Azure) and support conference attendance.

Keep the team at the cutting edge of cloud technology.

Do you have experience in Terraform?, * Technical expertise - 5+ years of Java development, deep experience with Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security and RESTful APIs.

• Leadership & mentorship - Proven track record of leading engineers, conducting technical interviews and fostering a supportive team environment.
• Communication - Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and inspire confidence in clients.
• Agile mindset - Comfortable working in Scrum/Kanban, iterating quickly and embracing continuous improvement.

A plus

• Cloud fluency: Hands-on experience deploying Java services on AWS or Azure; familiarity with IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
