Job description
As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Systems Administrator to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth., Are you a skilled Linux Systems Administrator with a passion for secure, high-performance infrastructure? We're looking for a proactive and knowledgeable individual to join our IT team. In this role, you'll manage and optimise our Linux-based systems (primarily Red Hat / CentOS), support Windows environments, and ensure compliance with security standards like PCI DSS. You'll also work across hybrid cloud environments, especially AWS, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain a stable and scalable infrastructure., * Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers in physical and virtual environments
- Provide support for Windows workstations as needed
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security
- Troubleshoot networking issues across the TCP/IP stack
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
- Apply security patches and updates in line with compliance standards
- Support cloud infrastructure, storage, and networking (AWS)
- Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Maintain documentation, change logs, and asset inventories
- Ensure PCI DSS compliance and participate in incident response
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of Linux systems administration (Red Hat / CentOS)
- Experience with Windows environments
- Strong networking knowledge (CCNA level or equivalent)
- Familiarity with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
- Understanding of PCI DSS and secure system practices
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Skills
- RHCSA or higher certification
- CCNA certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with monitoring tools and configuration management
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM)
- Exposure to security hardening and vulnerability management
