Job description
The Senior Engineer supports Regional Dispenser Engineering; sustaining (including cost and quality) and NPD. Also supports hardware engineering for payment and media packaging.
This includes the creation of mechanical / electro-mechanical / hydraulic related designs of dispenser products, and ensuring that adequate design documentation is prepared, updated, and issued as required. Documentation examples include engineering models and drawings for sheet metal components, castings, moulded parts, bills of materials, test reports and installation instructions for the field.
Fuel dispenser products incorporate aspects of mechanical, electrical, electronics and hydraulics engineering., * Development of new models & options within the existing product ranges to meet market demands under the guidance of Product Management;

Sustaining of existing product ranges -

Dealing with day to day production issues and queries from the shop floor;

Working on DFA initiatives together with manufacturing teams;

Validating and actioning engineering change requests;

Investigating customer complaints (CCR's);

Responding to field quality issues in timely manner;

Responsible for products being developed in accordance to the relevant industry standards;

Responsible for the release of new parts and designs through the engineering release process;

Responsible for the accuracy of information within the MRP system;

Estimating design workload in order to meet project and factory needs;

Give regular updates on the status of on-going projects and tasks.

Develop test plans in conjunction with the quality department, arranging testing with outside agencies or carrying out in-house testing as required;

Develop Engineering Plan to support overall Project Plan;

Support cost reduction programs - work in conjunction with Sourcing Dept. on cost reduction initiatives and lead engineering derived cost reduction strategies;

Work with suppliers / vendors on DFM initiatives.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in a related subject (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics) plus experience in a similar engineering role. Member of a Professional Institute would be an advantage; (e.g. IMechE);
- Able to design & work with SolidWorks CAD tools, particularly sheet metal parts/assemblies Knowledge of Creo would be an advantage;
- Recognise the importance of good practices with respect to modelling, assembling and creation of drawings;
- Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and design rules and limitations;
- Awareness of developing designs in ATEX certified equipment and relevant industry standards;
- Ability to develop in-depth product knowledge for a range of products;
- Able to produce material suitability / specifications;
- Experience of DFM / DFA / FMEA & PPAP processes;
- Able to work with and effectively communicate with cross-functional and/or cross-geographical teams;
- Experience building/assembling physical prototypes in a workshop environment;
- Experience designing validation tests/experiments, performing and documenting the results;
- Provide an input into CAD best practices or other design techniques;
- Excellent PC literacy and knowledge of MS Office products required;
- Excellent written and oral English, and an ability to describe technical subjects to 'non-experts' is essential in the creation of documentation;
- Understanding of Project Management methodology would be an advantage (Concept, Definition, Implementation and Handover);
- Experience using Oracle MRP systems preferred.
