Job description
This is a hands-on role, combining Scrum team member, technical leadership, people management and coaching a team of developers.
As a key member of one of our Scrum teams you will define, build, and deploy new products and features that meet the needs of our expanding customer base. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and see the impact of your work in a dynamic and encouraging environment. Though all our roles are hybrid we have great workspace in Altrincham that promotes collaboration and facilitates hybrid working with great tech, AV equipment, and flexible spaces.
You will be a strong and experienced Java developer, but we're not just looking for great coders. We're looking for problem solvers who are keen to share their ideas, challenge our approach and continuously improve the way we work. As a proactive and inquisitive developer, you'll be passionate about collaborating with and contributing to the professional growth of your team. You'll also be comfortable working with other specialists such as UX Designers, product experts, Test Analysts and, of course, our customers.
You'll be working on a modern JDK (we currently use Amazon Corretto 17) and with a variety of approaches such as pair programming, automated testing, and continuous integration - all backed by DevOps technologies such as Chef, Vagrant, Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer and Docker (though we don't expect you to be expert in all of these). Our culture encourages continuous improvement, so we'll be looking to you to investigate new tech, frameworks, and processes, to help drive us forward.
As a Principal Developer you will be responsible for the growth of developers (e.g., regular 1-to-1 coaching sessions and objective setting); be a strong contributor to technological and business advancement; and encourage/support developer participation in community forums and sessions. You also help in growing our teams further through our recruitment campaigns and promotion process.
Requirements
