Job description
As a member of one of our Scrum teams you will build and deploy new products and features that meet the needs of our expanding customer base. Heywood is a company that's just right for the next stage in your career. Why? As a long-established and successful business, we can provide stability, support, and growth opportunities, all while being the right size for you to make an impact and be recognised and valued for your contributions. You'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects and see the impact of your work in a dynamic and encouraging environment.
We are located in Altrincham, in a workspace that promotes collaboration and facilitates hybrid working with great tech, AV equipment, and flexible spaces.
First and foremost, you will be a strong Java developer, but we're not just looking for great coders. We're looking for problem solvers who are keen to share their ideas and help improve the way we work. As a proactive and inquisitive developer, you'll be passionate about collaborating with and contributing to the professional growth of your team. You'll also be comfortable working with other specialists such as UX Designers, product experts, Test Analysts and, of course, our customers.
You'll be working on a modern JDK (we currently use Amazon Corretto 17) and with a variety of approaches such as pair programming, automated testing, and continuous integration - all backed by DevOps technologies such as Chef, Vagrant, Kubernetes, Terraform, Packer and Docker (though we don't expect you to know all these). Our culture encourages continuous improvement, so you'll have the opportunity to help investigate new tech, frameworks, and processes.
