Job description
As a Back End Software Developer (with Full Stack capability) in our Platform team, you'll work at the heart of Hubexo's global products. You'll design secure, scalable services, craft APIs, and build identity solutions used worldwide-while stepping into full stack delivery when the team needs it. This isn't a role where you'll just maintain systems-you'll shape them.
This is what you'll be doing:
- Designing and developing back end services with Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
- Building and optimising APIs and microservices (GraphQL/REST) to serve multiple products.
- Developing scalable databases and secure identity services to keep our platform resilient.
- Supporting front end flows in React/TypeScript when end-to-end delivery is needed.
- Embedding DevOps practices: automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
- Collaborating daily with colleagues in Newcastle, Lisbon, Sydney, and Stockholm.
- Sharing expertise through code reviews, pair programming, and agile ceremonies.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in back end development with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Proven track record with APIs and microservices (REST, GraphQL).
- Skilled with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Knowledge of authentication and authorisation (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT).
- Communicative, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Bonus if you've worked with React/TypeScript, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or CI/CD pipelines.
About the company
At Hubexo, you won't be building "just another app." You'll be working on systems that power an entire industry. That means the challenges are real: scaling services that can't fail, balancing global demands, and switching between deep back end engineering and front end delivery. It's demanding work-complex, fast-moving, and not always straightforward.
But here's the flip side: if you thrive on solving hard problems, if you want your code to be used globally, if you want to work alongside engineers who push you to be better-you'll find it here. You'll see the direct impact of your work on products trusted by thousands across construction, every single day.
We're not here to coast-we're here to challenge, grow, and build better. For our people and for our customers. That means we'll expect a lot from you: ownership, precision, and a drive to lead by example. In return, you'll get the space to dream big, take smart risks, and be seen, heard, and valued.
When we come together in our Newcastle hub three days a week, it's not about clocking in-it's about creating momentum. Problems get solved faster. Ideas sharpen. Connections deepen. It's this rhythm of intensity and collaboration that helps us deliver better, and you'll be at the centre of it.
At Hubexo, we are united by our vision to empower the construction industry with our innovative insights and technology. We like to dream big and thrive together. If you're ready to be part of one global team that is helping to shape the future of construction and build a better world, join us!
