Job description
We're looking for a Content Engineer to help us research, plan, and create advanced content and virtual labs for our online courses. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in red team cyber security roles and experience or interest in training content development. This is a fixed-term contract aimed to help us reach our objectives for 2026 with a possibility of extensions or even a transition towards a full-time role!, * Design, write and create offensive cyber security training material with supporting hands-on lab exercises (such as virtual machines)
- Collaborate with the Content Engineering Team to support TryHackMe's security training coverage and identify content development opportunities
- Prepare other security-related content (multiple-choice questions, cheat sheets, expert articles, industry analysis, etc.)
- Analyse industry trends in tooling and techniques and recreate that as teachable content
- Support running various events such as Capture The Flag (CTF)
Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have at least 3 years of relevant cyber security industry experience in roles such as Penetration Tester, Ethical Hacker, Red Teamer, or other offensive security-focused roles.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Strong experience in several of the following areas: web application security, penetration testing, red teaming, cloud security, OS Exploitation, Threat Emulation, etc.
- A deep understanding of networking, web applications, computing, and operating systems as they relate to security practices.
- Familiarity with penetration testing guides and practices, as well as industry frameworks (such as the MITRE ATT&CK framework)
- Familiarity with AI red teaming techniques
- Proven ability to research and adapt to emerging threats and technologies and translate that knowledge into engaging training content.
- Ability to develop and configure vulnerable virtual machines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, * Creating challenges for capture the flags (CTFs)
- Programming experience in any of the following: Python, PHP, Bash, Powershell
- Instructional design or training experience (developing and running cybersecurity training);
- Certifications such as PNPT, OSCP, GPEN, LPT, or any other penetration testing / red team focused certifications
