Job description
As the Data & AI Engineer Working Student, you will join a specialized team working at the intersection of engineering and venture capital. You will work side-by-side with VC investors, AI researchers, and developers to build the backbone of our investment intelligence.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role. You will be treated as a full member of the team, expected to contribute code and structures that solves real business problems and leverages state-of-the-art AI methods. The goal is to automate tedious workflows and turn experimental concepts like LLM agents and complex data reasoning into production-grade tools.
Expand Our Data Scope: You will build the pipelines that feed our investment engine, integrating diverse sources-from niche APIs to web data-to ensure we capture the latest data and insights. Turn Noise into Signal: You will transform raw, unstructured inputs into high-quality assets, ensuring our systems are fed with the clean, ready-to-use information. Engineer AI-Driven Pipelines: You will support applying LLM logic directly into our data workflows, treating it as a transformation step to automatically extract structure, tags, and meaning from raw text at scale. Operationalize Prototypes: You will help build the serving infrastructure and orchestration layers required to turn experimental models into reliable, high-performance tools that handle real-world data loads.
Requirements
- You are currently enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- You are comfortable writing clean, modular Python code (beyond simple notebooks). You know your way around standard libraries like pandas and requests.
- You understand how to interact with REST APIs, handle authentication, and work with flexible data structures (especially JSON and NoSQL/SQL databases).
- You are familiar with Git version control and the command line. You care about writing code that is readable, reusable, and reliable.
- You are curious about the engineering side of AI like how to integrate LLM APIs, Vector Databases, or RAG workflows into actual products.
- You are interested in startups, entrepreneurship, and/or venture capital.
Benefits & conditions
- Mentorship - You will be paired directly with the Data & AI Team Lead for 1-on-1 sessions, helping you transition from a student to a professional.
- Network - Work from the Munich Urban Colab. You will have access to the wider UnternehmerTUM ecosystem, connecting you with leading startups, industry experts, and investors.
- Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive package with the flexibility to align your working hours with university exams and deadlines.
- VC Insights: You will participate in the educational track of our VC Trainee Program, giving you an exclusive deep dive into how investors analyze startups and markets.
- Office Perks - Join our free sports classes, monthly team lunches, access to Makerspace for your personal projects, and regular events in a dynamic environment.
