Job description
As the Engineering Lead, you'll guide the technical direction and implementation of the platform. This involves:
- Championing engineering excellence through hands-on feature creation, rigorous code quality via pull request reviews, and by mentoring junior engineers to establish robust coding standards and guardrails.
- Architecting scalable, secure re-usable components. You'll drive the design process, aligning with or challenging existing blueprints, seeking consensus from senior leads and stakeholders.
- Staying up to date with open-source solutions and latest trends to accelerate business outcomes.

Citi's Equities Technology team is undergoing significant growth and investment, specifically within our high-priority systematic trading and analytics systems. We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Lead to drive the development of our next-generation quantitative development platform serving the Equities Cash, Derivatives, and Prime businesses.
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact as the platform enters its key growth phase. You will be instrumental in shaping critical capabilities including building an event-driven equity options back tester and AI-powered data agents delivering market intelligence via rich dashboards. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and have a passion for markets and quantitative research, we want to hear from you!, * Extensive background in delivering production-grade, data-centric applications for quantitative trading and analytics, with demonstrated expertise in:
- The python data engineering stack (Polars, Parquet, FastAPI, Jupyter, Airflow, Streamlit, Ray)
- High-performance data stores and query engines (Starburst, Snowflake)
- Real-time streaming analytics technologies (Kafka, Flink)
- Cloud container technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proven success in enhancing developer experience that reduces friction in coding, building and deploying APIs and client libraries.
- Real-world application of generative AI prompt engineering and RAG pipelines.
- Full-stack HTML5 web development skills.
Desired Skills:
- Understanding of Equities Cash, D1 & Deriv market mechanics and products via sell-side trading projects
- Familiarity with low-latency programming languages such as Rust or C++
