We are looking for a motivated and experienced GIS and Spatial Data Analyst to join our award-winning Data Science, Insight & Performance Team, supporting services across the Council through expert spatial analysis, mapping and geospatial systems leadership.
You will play a key role in maintaining and developing our Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and GIS infrastructure, supporting key council services and statutory functions, and driving UPRN integration to enable smarter, joined-up decision-making through spatial data.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help deliver impactful geospatial insight and analysis to inform strategic and operational decisions across the Council, and strengthens collaboration with our external partners.

What's the role?
- You will play a key role in managing the Council's spatial databases for web and desktop GIS platforms, ensuring data integrity, availability, reproducibility and security, and compliance with BS7666 standards.
- To provide technical expertise on the design, development and delivery of innovative geospatial solutions to streamline workflows and support strategic and operational projects.
- Provide strategic GIS leadership and champion the use of the LLPG as the Council's primary property database, enabling data interoperability and seamless integration across wider Council systems.
Requirements
You will bring proven experience in supporting GIS and LLPG systems, with a strong understanding of BS7666 data standards and UPRN integration.
Attention to detail and strong data management capabilities are essential, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across our geospatial datasets. You will be comfortable working with tools like QGIS, DynamicMaps (MapThat), GeoServer and have experience with spatial databases such as PostGIS or SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience with Python for GIS scripting and automation and confidence working with APIs and integrating external spatial data services (e.g. Ordnance Survey Data Hub, Environment Agency).
You will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, working with teams across the council to identify opportunities where geospatial insight and innovation can improve service delivery and efficiency.
As someone who is self-motivated and curious, you will stay on top of emerging GIS technologies, while helping to embed geospatial thinking into the fabric of the organisation.
