Job description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Data & AI Architect to join our growing Group Data & AI Office (GDAIO). Responsible for enhancing the effectiveness of how data is used across Royal London. The function provides Data Strategy, Data Management and Analytics capabilities. The Lead Data & AI Architect plays a critical leadership role responsible for bringing best practice in Data & AI architecture and emerging technology trends to support the execution of the Group's Data & AI Strategy. In this role you will be:

  • Accountable for GDAIO sponsored Data & AI platform architectures underpinning critical business outcomes.
  • Providing oversight and alignment of Data & AI solutions aligned to the execution of the Group's Data & AI Strategy on behalf of the Chief Data & AI Officer.
  • Key contributor to the reference data architecture target state including maintaining key architectural viewpoints (Data Management, Analytics, AI and Decisioning).
  • Working with the Head of Data Strategy and Head of Data Transformation on showing how Data Capabilities underpinning critical business outcomes are being enabled through enterprise data viewpoints.
  • Promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within GDAIO for architectural principles, designs and patterns.
  • Contributing to significantly upskilling key stakeholders on data literacy, data & AI architectures and data commercialisation.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in our Group Architecture function to ensure material designs stay aligned to the Data & AI strategy, as well as sitting on existing architecture approval boards.
  • Building strong business relationships with key stakeholders to understand their current challenges and be a champion for delivering a data & analytics architecture to solve their problems and democratise data assets.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Power BI?, * Extensive enterprise data architecture experience, preferably in UK Financial Services.

  • Experience of designing data architectures to improve customer master data management, insights & advanced analytics (AI / ML) and decisioning to support personalisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Data & AI technology and concepts, including Azure Databricks / Medallion Architecture, Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Fabric / Snowflake, PowerBI, Event Driven Architecture, APIM, Party-based MDM, Decisioning engines, and citizen AI tools like M365 Copilot
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Predictive AI, RAG architectures supporting GenAI and Customer Next Best Action, Triggers and Prompts.
  • Proven track record of leading Data Architecture teams, with embedded Partners, on multi-vendor programmes and matrix led engagements.
  • Strong and demonstrable specialist knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, trends and standards, for example TOGAF
