Job description
As a Traction Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and testing embedded software for traction converters. You'll work closely with software developers, validation engineers, and control experts to ensure compliance with safety standards (EN 50657, EN 50128) while delivering robust, high-performance solutions., 1. Software Development & Control Systems
- Develop and code application software for traction and auxiliary converters in Matlab & ControlBuild.
- Translate functional requirements into detailed software specifications.
- Ensure compliance with EN 50657 & EN 50128 safety standards.
- Manage software configuration and change control processes.
- Testing & Validation
- Participate in software design reviews and ensure quality documentation.
- Support bench testing activities to validate software performance.
- Collaborate with international teams on validation and report consolidation.
- Assist commissioning teams during on-site field testing and troubleshooting.
- Project & Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with traction control engineers to align on functional specifications.
- Act as a technical interface for software development projects with subcontractors.
- Report project progress, risks, and workload management to engineering managers.
- Organize development schedules in line with overall project milestones.
Requirements
- Master degree in Engineering (Software, Electronics, Control Systems, or related field).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in real-time embedded software development.
Key Skills & Technologies
- Advanced experience with Matlab, Simulink & ControlBuild.
- Familiarity with real-time embedded systems & software development environments.
- Basic knowledge of power electronics & control systems.
- Understanding of configuration & change management tools.
- Strong analytical skills, autonomy, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Good English communication skills (spoken & written).
- Open to travel 40% of your time
Nice-to-Have:
- Knowledge of railway safety standards (EN 50657, EN 50128).
- Hands-on experience with electronics board architecture & software.
- Exposure to traction converter systems.
