Senior Systems Engineer (IT/OT)

Our client in the energy sector is seeking a skilled Senior Systems Engineer to strengthen a small, dynamic IT team in Amsterdam. This role is ideal for someone ready to take the lead in securing, maintaining, and optimizing both IT and operational technology (OT) environments., As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficiency of the organisation's IT landscape, with a strong emphasis on security and OT. You will collaborate closely with Operations and OT teams, manage modern Microsoft environments, and oversee cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and Intune. Occasional offshore travel may be required., Systems & Platforms: Manage and optimize Windows environments, M365/Entra ID, Intune, and Azure; automate tasks with PowerShell; ensure compliant software deployment, connectivity, and interoperability.

Security & Identity: Apply security controls (MFA, Conditional Access, hardening, patching, IAM); administer Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA); execute audits, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.

OT Engineering: Support and secure industrial/OT environments; maintain OT asset inventories; drive vulnerability and risk management; enhance segmentation, remote access, and change control in line with IEC 62443.

Support & Collaboration: Provide third-line support, coordinate incidents, mentor junior staff, and contribute to on-call rotations.

• Proven experience with Windows environments, M365/Entra ID, Intune, Azure, and Zscaler
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills
• Solid understanding of IAM and modern security practices
• Experience working with OT/industrial environments
• Willingness to travel offshore on occasion
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively within a small, multidisciplinary team, * Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent
• Certifications such as AZ-104, MS-102, Zscaler, ITIL, or similar are a plus
• Proficiency in Dutch (spoken and written) is required

This position offers a generous base pay between €5,500 and €8,500, along with excellent secondary working conditions.
