Job description

We're growing our team of DevOps Automation Engineers and looking for people with a range of skills to help automate key elements of service. You'll combine software engineering and operations expertise to automate tasks, monitor system health and optimise infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to be part of our Aerospace, Defence and Security sector, working on projects that make a real difference to national security.

You'll play a key role in ensuring our systems are performant, resilient, scalable and secure. As this role supports one of our secure accounts, you should ideally already hold active SC clearance or above and be eligible to pursue DV clearance.

This is an on-site role based in Salisbury.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborating as part of a cross-functional team providing operational and engineering support for a large-scale secure cloud service.

  • Developing workflows and tooling to automate processes and operations.

  • Provisioning, managing and optimising infrastructure.

  • Maintaining observability of the platform.

  • Responding to alerts and incidents to ensure system availability and interoperability, and completing root cause analysis., Sopra Steria's Aerospace, Defence and Security business designs, develops and deploys digital solutions to Central Government clients. Requirements

  • Strong Ansible skills.
  • Strong Windows and Linux system administration expertise.
  • Proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, C#, C++, Go or Java.
  • Competence with multiple scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash or SQL.
  • Background working with the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX and the Aria Automation suite.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using supporting tools such as GitLab.
  • Knowledge of system interoperability and application interfaces (e.g. RESTful, API, Swagger).
  • Networking and database administration know-how.

Benefits & conditions

Salary: Up to £68K.
