Job description
The Mission Our current store runs on a customized Impulse theme. It works, but it can't keep up with our ambition. We need you to help us clean up, maintain, and upgrade the codebase. You will work directly with the Head of Digital to turn strategy into features-building "Locked" VIP collections, dynamic countdowns, and helping us prepare for a potential "Clean Slate" rebuild or migration to Shopify 2.0. Note: For major architectural projects, we are happy to bring in external agency support to work alongside you-so you won't be on your own!
What You'll Be Doing
- Code Management: You will be the hands-on developer for the store. You will help audit our settings_schema.json, clean up inline CSS, and start moving hardcoded legacy features into flexible Shopify 2.0 Sections.
- Feature Building: Creating custom features using Native Liquid & JavaScript rather than installing heavy apps. Think: Dynamic "Free Shipping" progress bars, custom product bundles, and "Hotspot" shoppable images.
- Metafield Logic: Moving us away from hard-coding. You will use Metaobjects to power Size Guides, Care Instructions, and Badges dynamically.
- Performance: Keeping an eye on Core Web Vitals. You will help us fix layout shifts (CLS) and improve mobile load speeds to ensure a smooth UX.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SCSS?, * Shopify Experience: You have commercial experience working with Shopify Themes (Agency or In-House). You know your way around the codebase (theme.liquid, sections, assets) and aren't afraid to edit it.
- The Toolkit: You have a solid grasp of Liquid, HTML5, SCSS, and JavaScript. You are comfortable using (or willing to learn) Git for version control.
- The Problem Solver: You don't just write code; you can debug it. If a badge isn't showing on mobile, you know how to inspect the element and fix the CSS conflict.
- Commercial Awareness: You understand that a broken checkout costs money. You test your work thoroughly before it goes live.
Nice to Have
- Experience taking designs from Figma and coding them. (We are commissioning a design agency to prepare a brand new site in Figma ready for you to build).
