Job description

Lead UX Strategy for the INSO web and mobile applications, aligning with the organisation goals and user needs.

  • Translate user insights and behavioural data into actionable design solutions that drive engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, information managers and other INSO staff to define and deliver end-to-end user journeys.
  • Design and prototype intuitive interfaces using modern UX/UI principles, ensuring consistency and usability across touchpoints.
  • Ensure full usage of our Design thinking process to ensure scalability and consistency.
  • Conduct usability testing and iterative design reviews to validate concepts and continuously improve the user experience.
  • Advocate for accessibility, scalability, and performance in all design decisions.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Usability?, * 5+ years of hands-on experience designing digital products, ideally in complex, data-driven or mission-critical environments (e.g. humanitarian, development or public sector).

  • Deep expertise in UX principles, human-centered design, and interaction design with meticulous attention to clarity, usability, and accessibility.
  • Strong understanding of user needs in low-resource or high-risk settings, including offline-first design and constraints such as limited bandwidth or digital literacy.
  • Familiarity with research and design challenges in multilingual, multicultural, and distributed environments.
  • Proficient in planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research (both qualitative and quantitative) to drive informed design decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and iterating end-to-end user experiences, from discovery and prototyping to delivery and refinement.
  • Advanced proficiency in tools like Figma (including design systems, prototyping, and developer handoff), with working knowledge of related tools (Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.).
  • Familiarity with analytic tools (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) and usability testing tools (Maze.co).

Desirable

  • Arabic, French and/or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience in designing products for different platforms.
  • Experience in working with standardized design systems.
  • Familiarity with any front-end development frameworks/libraries.

Benefits & conditions

This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in The Hague with office presence required. The monthly salary is EUR 5,200 plus 8% vacation pay (vakantiegeld) and 2.5 days of annual leave per month. INSO provides Basic Premium ONVZ health insurance for staff members and their dependents.

INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. Your role As UX Lead, you will play a key role in empowering humanitarian organisations across the 20 countries where INSO operates. Leading our product design efforts, you'll create intuitive, impactful digital tools that directly support the safety and access of aid workers in high-risk environments. You will be at the forefront of research and collaboration with INSO staff to understand user needs, align stakeholders, and design effective experiences in Figma.
