Job description
As a Full Stack Software Engineer in one of our OpenAthens development scrum teams, you'll use your technical expertise and collaborative skills to enhance OpenAthens products. You'll work across front-end and back-end development, contributing to software improvements that support secure, seamless access for millions of users worldwide.
What you'll be doing:
- Build your knowledge of OpenAthens products, our development process, and technical environment.
- Collaborate with your scrum team (developers, testers, product owner), the Technical Design Authority, and other stakeholders to understand product changes, create technical designs, and plan implementation.
- Use your technical skills and experience to deliver high-quality product changes.
- Ensure all work meets agreed quality standards (Definition of Done).
- Contribute to team performance improvements and product discovery initiatives.
- Continuously develop your own skills and knowledge.
- Foster strong working relationships across OpenAthens., Jisc has an active sponsor licence to recruit on a Skilled worker visa basis. Requirements
Do you have experience in Spring Framework?, * Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code.
- Strong fluency in Java for backend development.
- Familiarity with modern Java-based API frameworks such as Spring Boot or Jersey for building RESTful APIs.
- Experience in developing web applications using modern front-end frameworks like Angular or React.
- A collaborative approach to working with team members, the Technical Design Authority, and other stakeholders.
- Motivation and ability to continuously learn new technologies, techniques, and soft skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
It would be a bonus if you have a relevant qualification. For example, degree or equivalent demonstrable development experience gained in a similar role.
