Job description

This is a broad role to provide additional resource to the finance team during the acquisition of the Empiric Student Property Group by the Unite Group. The departure of the CFO will put additional demands on the Group Financial Controller, and the Finance Integration Manager will help to support the Group FC and the rest of the finance team. Job Description

The detailed responsibilities are as follows:

  1. Year end delivery
  2. Group financial reporting requirements
  3. Integration planning
  • Year end delivery

  • Preparation of workings to support disclosures in the annual report

  • Reviewing, drafting and finalising the annual report (including the strategic report and related reports)

  • Responding to audit queries

  • Providing assistance to the group reporting team on complex audit, accounting and disclosure matters

  • Providing ad hoc assistance across the finance function to complete deliverables for year end reporting

  • Problem solving for complex areas to ensure resolved prior to delivery deadlines

  • Group financial reporting requirements

  • Completion balance sheet workings (where required)

  • Bank facility compliance

  • Subsidiary financial statements review (if applicable - likely to start April/May)

  • Liquidity forecasting

  • Assistance with tax related matters, focused on review

  • Integration planning

  • Discussion with Unite employees to identify opportunities for smooth integration

  • Assisting the Group Financial Controller with a broad range of processes, systems and controls that can be prepared for integration

  • Liaising with the Unite team on integration related matters

Requirements

  • 8 years PQE ACA or ACCA
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Hard working
  • Willing to carry out detailed work with sleeves rolled up
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Desirable

  • Previous experience with Yardi
  • Operational real estate experience
