Job description

Data Analysts I work on analytics tasks such as reporting, visualization and analysis within the scope of their team. They consult with stakeholders in problem-definition, setting success metrics and shaping the way forward through data insights and effective communication with their audience. Data Analysts I have experience managing stakeholders and can do this largely autonomously (seeking help in complex scenarios). They prioritize their work for business impact, efficiently adapt to business needs, and manage expectations accordingly. They combine their understanding of the business with the knowledge of data, workflows, methods and tooling to largely autonomously drive analysis and reporting within the scope of their team. They can adapt existing tooling and approaches based on business and user needs. They collaborate with peers in their craft and follow best practices ensuring data quality and stability., * Own the design and delivery of parts of Data Analytics solutions based on business requirements, contributing from the initial idea-generation phase to implementation with some supervision.

  • Work independently on consuming data, preparing it for analytical use, and translating business problems to data stories, seeking guidance on more complex tasks as needed.
  • Deliver work within the scope of your team that informs business decisions for the product or business topic you currently work on.
  • Leverage foundational skills in data analysis and data visualization to answer business questions, incorporating stakeholder requirements to create intuitive and insightful visualizations that translate data into actionable insights.
  • Connect and collaborate with stakeholders in operational and project-based roles under the guidance of a manager, using effective communication to address their needs and present data insights in an accessible, business-friendly manner.
  • Be flexible in adopting existing internal Data Analytics approaches and expand technical competencies when a more efficient way presents itself.
  • Grow your own craft skills while leveraging Data Analytics for impact on well-defined business problems.
  • Support junior peers when opportunities arise through knowledge sharing and setting a good example.
  • Network and proactively connect with craft peers beyond the team's scope.
  • Be familiar with the larger data ecosystem at Booking.com and how it relates to your work.
  • Connect with peers in related crafts (e.g., Data Engineering) as needed on specific projects to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Maintain high-level knowledge about the goals of your area (e.g., track/vertical).
  • Ensure the quality of your own work by validating it through peer review.

Requirements

  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience
  • High SQL proficiency is essential; Python and/or R are beneficial, as well as experience in data cleaning and preparation
  • Strong data visualization skills and experience with dashboarding tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, etc.
  • Able and willing to develop and manage enterprise-level performance reports
  • Capable of driving actions from stakeholders and providing self-service analytics and visualization tools
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, especially for unstructured problems
  • Ability to communicate recommendations in a compelling way tailored to the audience
  • Experience with analytics in decision making where A/B testing is not possible
  • Can explain complex analytical findings and solutions to commercial and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong data management skills with a focus on data quality (timeliness and correctness)
